Second Week of Blog Growth
I am officially through week two of my blog growth challenge. This was definitely an interesting one as my focus temporarily shifted from creating content to making sure I was setting up foundations. I also had quite a bit less time to focus on the blog this week which affects things greatly.
I am officially through week two of my blog growth challenge. This was definitely an interesting one as my focus temporarily shifted from creating content to making sure I was setting up foundations. I also had quite a bit less time to focus on the blog this week which affects things greatly.
Here is everything you need to catch up, or you can skip right to the stats and insights below:
The Stats
In the early going there is definitely a mantra that rings true. The effort I put into my blog directly correlates to what I get out of it. I wasn't able to dedicate nearly as much time this week to driving traffic to my site through socials and community engagement and that is immediately noticeable.
There are some very important positives to point out, however. My average engagement time effectively doubled. Getting people to come to your site and actually use it is the real goal here. This is a strong sign that the content was becoming more of a focus for my visitors versus the quick 'pop-ins' that were happening before.
What I Did
I did write about market saturation, which is a problem I'm very familiar with having a marketing automation tool.
More importantly, I did things in the background. My focus was on building authority for this site through guest posting and gaining backlinks. This is the type of thing that pays off tenfold, it's just not immediate. I was able to get strongly relevant 'dofollow' links on several sites with very high domain authorities. Some above 90. I look forward to seeing those show up in the backlink tools I am trialing and seeing how it impacts my various authority scores.
How Do I Feel About My Second Week of Blog Growth
Just okay π. I love moving quickly and the SEO process feels very slow to me. Reactions to my actions are very delayed and I am all about the rapidly iterative process for learning. I hope some of the building blocks I laid out will pay off and then I can just focus on writing about the things that are actually interesting. Some of which you should start to see this week!
